Catherine Asaro Wins Second Nebula® Award for
“The Spacetime Pool”
Baltimore, MD. Multi-published Columbia, Maryland, author Catherine Asaro
is the winner of the prestigious 2009 Nebula® award for her novella, “The Spacetime Pool” (Analog Magazine, March 2008, ed. Stanley Schmidt).
The novella tells the story of Janelle, a recent math graduate form MIT, who is pulled into an alternate universe where half of the human race has disappeared and the rest have lost most of their technology. She becomes a pawn in a battle between two conquerors, the brutal emperor of North America and his brother, who covets the title. The secret to her survival, and perhaps the survival of humanity on Earth, is locked up in an enigmatic mathematical “prophesy” about Janelle's relationship with both brothers and her destiny in their world.
